I need to stop the forum for one day or two (I'm changing the database from access to mysql). How to do? Yesterday I went to the panels for compacting the database, closed the forum and did nothing more, but today the forum is still up and running!! Please that's important, if the forum is still up and running I cannot change to mySQL, I would loose some posts... |

If I use the "lock forum" on the main screen, will it be enough? I need the database to stay frozen for one or two days, is this a good way to block any writing process on the database? Will people be able to subscribe to my forum when all the forums are locked? I need the database to stay untouched.... help please! |

It will be good enough to lock the forum i'm assuming. You shouldn't have any writing happening to it then. |

Thank you sr erick. I wonder if, anyway, the registering of a new member will touch the database. For now I've changed the name of the database with the FTP, i hope it will work. Thank you again |

Stoping the forum in the way described stops all forum activity, including member registration. Beware that if the server is reset or rebooted, the site may come up again. |
