Sorry this is probably in the wrong place, but I didn't really know which other forum to post this under.
I want to add a Forum to my website, but don't know much about the different ones out there, I looked into "InfoPop" and "phpBB", both of which you have to pay for.
Is Snitz a good peice of software, I know it is free and it looks good, I discovered Snitz via the Asante website: http://www.asante.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=15
Finally is Snitz easy to install and set up on your website? Any advice appreciated. |

Snitz is a great forum, and very easy to install. The community of people here are great, and offer fantastic support.
Don't know about InfoPop, but phpbb is free too. |

Let me put it this way, if you use a Windows Server I recommend Snitz, for everything else there are better alternatives. |

phpBB is free unless there was some kind of major coup in the last week. |

phpBB is released free of charge. However, you must read and fully understand the license agreement before you download and use the software.

I've used somewhat older versions of the Infopop software. While it is good forum software, I can honestly say that I can't see that it has any major functionality that is lacking in Snitz - or through mods to Snitz. While the price covers the development costs, of course, it seems that what you really pay for is support - something this board provides in abundance and for free. |

I've only used Snitz but my understanding is that while other forums may offer more base code features, Snitz may be the most customizable. Then you may add as many modifications (mods) as you feel necessary. Lots of mods are available at www.snitzbitz.com.
Snitz is a great forum if you're on a Windows server. And the community has always been active and helpful. Beyond that, I find that it's easy to administer and users find it very intuitive. I'm a big fan. |
