What software do you recommend for reading RSS feeds? I've been using Feedreader.com's software called Feedreader and have been very happy with it. It's an open source project on SourceForge.
But, I haven't used any others and I was wondering what the Snitz community prefers. |

Feedreader is great, another good one is FeedDemon but it's shareware. |

What are you using the RSS feeds for? I am working on some software right now to help get the RSS on your site. You can email me for more information or just post here what you are doing and would like to do with rss feeds and maybe i can help you. |

I am using Sharp Reader from http://www.sharpreader.net/
It is the only one I have ever used and it seems ok. |

It seems like Sharpreader is very similar to Feedreader. The only thing I don't like is the pop-up with their logo on it and the background color of the pop-ups. It's really distracting.
Redbrad,
Are you developing in ASP? |

RSS feeds are pretty simple to access. Its just an xml file that you pull off their website and parse. There is a standard format - but a few people tend to tweak it.
Its only a half dozen lines to pull the data out in javascript, so I suspect it will be even easier to do it in asp.
You can this display the information any way you like. |

Thanks Gremlin. That topic needed updated too.
Tiggerz,
There hasn't been any ASP that I've seen and liked for reading RSS feeds and displaying them on a website. It would be nice to see something developed. |

I've got some RSS being presented on a webpage here which is nothing more than an XSLT translation after getting the RSS/XML via an XMLHTTP Call. The second "news item" down are the RSS feeds, theres a dropdown box top right of the screen as well which lets you change which of the feeds I'm pulling in are displayed. |

I used something like that a while ago. Perhaps I'll take a look at it again.
I see you play Everquest. I've never played but I have a feeling that if I started, I would never leave the computer. At the cinema I go to, they've been playing an ad for Everquest II (I think that's what it's called). Is that out now? It looked really nice. |

Haven't played Everquest for a good number of years actually, I designed that site about 3-4 years ago for the Guild I was in, they've since kept on playing though now Dark Age of Camelot rather than EQ.
I might take a look at EQII .. and possibly World of Warcraft (both due out around November this year I believe) which was fun playing a few weeks back when they had an open stress test. |
