I have what I hope to be a few simple questions regarding the proper use of the Avatar Mass Add function.
Preface: I have successfully "installed" the Avatar Mod for 3.4 adapted by Hamlin. I believe that it is working as specified. I am running version 3.4.04. To the best of my recollection, I don't have any other mods installed.
Question(s): 1. When performing a mass add, what does the function do? For example, under my forum folder, I have two folders. One labeled NewAvatars and one labeled WorkingAvatars. The NewAvatars folder is where the images I want to add are stored. The WorkingAvatars folder is where my currently used images are stored. Is the mass add function supposed to copy the images from the first folder to the second folder?
2. Aside from performing the steps in the instructions, are there other steps that need to be taken to allow the mass add function to work? For example, do I need to change permissions in IIS for either of the two folders mentioned in question 1?
These questions are generated due to the following situation... When I try to mass add avatars, I receive a successful meassage that they were added, but when I go to Review/Edit the avatar, the ones mass added don't show up (I see a blank square w/ a red X). The link points to the correct directory, but the actual files aren't in the directory. Dare I say it, I ASSUMED that the mass add function would also copy the images to the proper directory.
Adding Avatars one at a time works just fine, but of course if very time consuming.
If someone could set this very inexperienced newbie straight, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |

I know it hasn't been posted for very long, but judging that noone has made any replies, I am getting the impression that this is a topic that might have been answered already. If so, could someone please point me in the direction of that threat?
Better yet, is there somewhere a more descriptive explination/write up of how to use this mod properly? I would love to use this, but don't have the time or know how to troubleshoot it that deeply.
Once again, any help someone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance... |

Did anyone ever create code to do this or a way to just clear the database to re-add pictures. |

I had the same problem. I fixed it by deleting all avatars manually, and then mass adding using only one folder. In other words, the NEW avatar folder is the same as the MAIN avatar folder i.e. Upload your Avatar folder to the website. Go to 'Add Mass Avatar' and type the same address for each folder. WOrks a treat, but I haven't tried to mass add since. |
