I could really use some help on this.
I have just launched a new site for my employer and we would like to post a bulletin board forum.
I am using a Mac G4, DreamWeaver 3 (purchasing DW4/DEV soon).
I have just found out that Access is not made for Mac. Can anyone tell me how to go about putting a Snitz forum on my site with what I have to work with? Or, what programs do I need to get to make this work?
I am new to hosting forums, so I need all the help I can get.
Thanks, in advance, for any help anyone can offer.

I think the REAL problem is that Snitz was written in ASP. ASP is served up by IIS, a Microsoft webserver for Windows based OS's.
While there are third party products that let you host ASP on Unix and some other platforms, I'm not sure if Mac is included. I'm also not sure you'd want to spend that kind of money anyway.

Thanks for the reply, Dan!
Well, I am working on a G4, but I work for a university system that runs its server on IIS. (I am one of *very* few Macs on campus) Is there a way to work on my Mac and still be able to post the forum on the university's IIS server?
Or, would I be better off trying to find a PC terminal to do this particular work from?

YES!
The ASP files are essentialy Text files... so you can work with them and save them... the big thing is just making sure that you are saving them in an ASCII format with the proper name/extention.
You obviously won't be able to test on your mac, but you can drop the files on a test web server and once your happy... move it to production.
if you need any more help! Feel free to ask!
Also, please use the "Help" forums for this type of question... they are forum related... where this forum is for non-forum related programs and stuff.
Cheers!

I see. You don't need to open the Access databases unless you want to do some special customization. They should work fine as provided in the zip file.
Sooo...you should be fine. If you want to do custom work that requires changing the databases, there are SQL functions that would allow you to do that. It's not nearly as easy as opening the database in Access, but it is possible.

I figured I was in the wrong place. But I was a bit confused as to which help forum to go to. Thanks!
Okay. So sould I use a text editing program like Word? Or, maybe Notepad? I know DW4/UltraDev4 has an environment for generating ASP code. Maybe that would work?
As I said, I'm still *very* new at this area. But, I'm working on it.
P.S. I'll make sure I post my next question or two in the other help forums.
Thanks! Julie

Use Notepad to start with... I'm not sure how the forum code reacts to DreamWeaver...
Anyone else know how our code and Dreamweaver get along

Not saying it is a REAL problem with Snitz (most of my web development is ASP). But originally, it sounded like he was trying to run from a Mac webserver. Later he clarified that wasn't the case. But that would be a REAL problem if it were!

This really isn't an appropriate post for these forums.
