There is this great addon for the phpbb Forums that let you communicate with the Forums by E-mail: http://m2f.sourceforge.net/
Great for small groups that collaborate and want to combine E-mail and Forum discussions in one place. Similar but better than the Yahoo groups which combines E-mail lists with a simple Forum.
