Yep, that'd be me. I think the little white dots in the photo are sheep.

The fuel prices I think I can deal with actually, what scares me more is having to drive on the wrong side of the road and those roundabout things. It's the same here in Japan execpt that they don'd have the roundabouts. However, with the Japanese public transportation system being so good, I haven't had to drive during my time here.

What? You didn't have roundabouts in California?

They are all over around Olympia WA.

Nope, no roundabouts in CA and that's the way it should be.

OK, I'm leaning towards petrol. Now to find a car...

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that a diesel car will do a lot more miles to the gallon than a petrol car. Altough they are more expensive to buy, you will soon see a difference once you visit the garage to fill up. If you do a lot of miles, I would recommend a diesel as the standards have improved a lot in the last few years.
