You could enable Group Categories in admin options and create groups for each era. don't know if this will work though since I think you have to select categories to group rather than forums.
Kind of kludgey, but you could that using the search.
Try a search that snags all of the posts in that category, then copy that URL and link to it. Might require you to cheat a little on the topics- like embed the forum name in the post or such.
