Hi

I have a few questions about archiving...

1. Does it increase and slow down the size of the mySQL database?

2. When people perform a search on the forum, does this automatically include the archived posts?

3. When I go to the perform archive page (I've specified 180 days for archiving) does this mean that any topics 180 days or older will be automatically archived - but nothing newer than 180days (6 months) when I click on forum deletion/removal?

4. Is any data deleted in the archiving process, or is it just moved?

5. If someone wants to post to an archived topic, do they need to start a new topic on the current forum and is this clearly stated anywhere?

Sorry for all the questions!
Cheers

1. No (although I'm not entirely familiar with the workings of mySQL)

2. No but there is a checkbox on search.asp to allow them to do so.

3. All topics that haven't been replied to in the past 180 days will be archived.

4. No, posts are simply moved from the TOPICS & REPLIES tables to the A_TOPICS & A_REPLIES ones

5. Archived posts are locked meaning nobody can reply to them so, yes, if someone wants to continue an archived discussion they will need to start a new topic.
