I am not sure, but I think that one-click unsubscribing may be a legal requirement in the UK (I can't find any info to confirm this online but a few months ago there was some noise about it)
Is there a mod that does such a thing?
What I would like is that whenever the user is sent an email from the forum (eg: a 'newsletter' or an email from another forum member), it should contain a link that the user clicks to immediately set the M_RECEIVE_EMAIL field to 0 rather than them having to edit their profile.
Since they already opted to recieve the emails when they signed up for the forum, you do not have to include an opt out link in the email. The opt out link is only mandatory for email advertisements where you have not "opted in"
