Here is the error I get. I'm new to all this myself and I read the other links here. I use Myhosting.com for a web server. They did the install and everything so I'm really not sure what to do from here. I be grateful for any help anyone can give me. Thank You! O yeah If I give Admin or Moderator right they can view my topics. Normal users cant see the topics but can see Discussion Groups.

Well I took a look but there don't seem to be any errors on line 103. Look ok to me. I never really did any coding so if someone could take a look I'd be very great full for any tips please. Thank You!
I have never converted these files or changed anything. The Install was done by Myhosting.com.

Ok sorry I'm still learning here. I saved it with notepad and here the link. Sorry again this is my first forum and I'm Lost here.
Thanks for the help.

I would suggest that you upgrade to Snitz 3.4.04.

Well OK I tried to update to 3.4.04 and all I get when I go to setup.asp is you have not chosen your database type. witch I did and I setup the string line connection. with the information from Myhosting.com. strConnString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=SQLHosting01.myhosting.com;database=DB_4CAC57;uid=User_4CAC57;pwd=*********;" '## MS SQL Server 6.x/7.x/2000 (OLEDB connection) I stared out the password of course for this post. I also emailed them and informed them there a newer version out and it could help allot if they'd install that instead of the old version. So I guess I just wont have a forum. Yes I followed install instruction to the letter. I deleted every thing 4 times at least and tried different sting lines to connect but I can never get past you have not chosen your database type. I checked and rechecked I removed the hyphen from strDBType = "sqlserver" as that what I use is MS sql. I guess Ill try and use access 2003 tomorrow if that works Ill cancel my MS sql server from Myhosting.com Thanks for the help though. Goodnight.

Well I think I have it. I dint know why but it seems as MS Frontpage 2003 does not upload the file right or something. Whats up with that?
Spend several $100's of dollars and you cant use the dang software half the time. Maybe I have it setup wrong??? Cause it basically has all the same feature as any FTP software.
Also I noticed that when I ran setup.asp. I know I used the right Password and user name.
Also In the drop down list I could only choose to upgrade from 3.4.03 and it says Current database versionstring =
Snitz Forums 2000 Version 3.4.03

Couldn't open the database.
Make sure you supplied a correct user name and password.
Code : 80040E4D
Error Description :
Login failed for user 'webforumadmin'.

Also when I setup a test user I got some error until I edited the profile and gave the test user a Tittle. So far they can log in.

I think that original error i was getting was from the fact that I tried to setup 2 different forums on my website maybe. Ill save that for another day as well as some more testing before I decide I'm all clear. O one more thing what was the default password for the forum? Cause for some reason maybe it was supposed to. It remembered my password that I changed it to before. O well I have to call it a night these 50 hour work weeks and trying to find time to fish and play paint ball. Well I need to get some sleep lol. Thank You for trying to help. If you think I still have the install wrong I.d be willing to let you try and redo it for me. For now Night and enjoy.

Avoid using Frontpage to edit or upload your forum files, like a plague. Use a stndard ftp program to upload the files. If you don't have another editor, use notepad to edit your asp files.

But don't use Frontpage to do ANYTHING with your forum files.

OK got it no Frontpage. NO problem.
So Iv created a couple of test user and I still get the same problem. I can log in and view the test forum under Default Categories. But when I create a new categorie under Discussion Groups I get the error

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'
Invalid use of Null: 'cLng'

/Snitz/inc_func_secure.asp, line 99

I opened the inc_func_secure.asp and looked at line 99 witch says (select case cLng(fPrivateForums)) So I turned on allow private forums under the admin options. But still get the same error. If I add a new categorie under default categories I get the same error and cant view even the test forum witch I could do before created the new categorie. If I make them a Moderator they still get this error. If I make them a admin they can view the categeries and forums.

Kelly,

Did you delete forums or categories? Does your board have any categories and forums?

The file you posted is ok, which is to be expected since that is a brand new file.

I did a fresh install or upgrade. Then I created a test user. I logged in and I could go to the test forums under default categories no problem. I then created a test group called Awl and setup a forum under it. Then logged in with my test user. I could still browse the default categories and test forum. when I clicked on Group categories menu. It showed me Discussion Groups with the Awl categories as well as the default categories. I then clicked on the AWL group. Then received the error I posted. Then I tried putting the Awl test forum I created under AWL groups in the Default categories. Then I would get the same error under default categories also tell I removed the Awl test forum From The default categories. Hum does this make any sense cause I'm losing myself here LOL! Then I do believe I deleted my AWL test forum and created another just to try it again and see but still get the same error. Could this be from having M$ Frontpage® Server Extensions installed on my server???
I just tried it again as long as I don't create any groups or forum in default categories I can view test forum. I cant view any other groups or forums unless I make the user a admin. Witch I cant do for everyone that joins hehe. So I dont know bud??? Yes it still has the default categories and test forum that is installed with snitz 3.4.04
But if I click on check install it says I still have version 3.4.03
I try and upgrade but says
Couldn't open the database.

Error Description :

Witch I tried several times and I know I got the password right. Wanted to try the default password but can't remember what that was so I didnt. Thanks again hope we can find a solution.
