Hi.. I'm trying to install the board on a linux server with Apache ASP support.. But I get "500 Internal server error", this was the error log: "[Wed May 26 13:01:56 2004] [error] Premature end of script headers: setup.asp". The files are in the cgi-bin folder. (How) can this be solved? And which of the 2 connection strings should I use, "driver=MySQL" or "driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver}"? Tried both of them. Thanks..

Snitz won't work with Apache ASP. You need SUN One ASP, but even with that one, only versions previous to 4.0 will support Snitz.

Here are list of a few others: http://forum.snitz.com/competition.asp

But it would be better to go with a php forum if you are planning on using Lunix as your web server. ASP is better suited for the windows enviroment.

If it's the Apache::ASP module your using it doesn't support either vbScript or Jscript so you'll probably never get any "ASP" forum working, the Apache::ASP mod actually uses Perl.

I'd agree 100% with Davio's recommendation to go with something PHP based.

NO!!!!! This is the thread that I was looking for, but not the answer I was looking for!!!!

I just moved my hosting to http://www.hostmerit.com which said that all plans include Apache ASP. I assumed (yes I know this makes an Ass out of Me....lol) that my Snitz Forums would run with no problem. Is this still not the case? Is there ANYTHING that can be put on these servers that will allow the Snitz Forums to run? I am 110,000+ posts in, and am not willing to switch to another type of forum! I am dedicated to Snitz! :P

Anyone have any ideas on this? I have set the folder permissions, but I am now getting the INTERNAL SERVER ERROR....

The error is here:
http://stillfly.hostmerit.com/~kamikaz/forum/default.asp

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost.localdomain and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

You need a host using IIS or SunOne for Snitz.

Thanks....I was afraid that as going to be the bad news....

Anyone know of any fairly cheap hosts that offer SunOne?

I guess could just host my forum on a different webserver, like KiwiHosting (see up above)....but my forum DB is fast approaching 50Mb itself....didn't want to be paying MORE just to host the forums :/

*edit*

Will Sun Java System Active Server Pages 4.0 work?

Whats wrong with your database approaching 50MB ? I've seen some over 150MB still working OK. It's not really the size of your DB that matters, its how many concurrent users you have on at any one time, access has limitation in that respect where as MySQL or MS SQL don't.

No no....nothing is wrong with the forums approaching 50Mb. It's that the free ASP hosting sites don't allow more than 100Mb (and that is only a couple of them), and other Windows hosting solutions can get expensive quickly. I had jumped onto a Linux host that I thought would be able to run Snitz with Apache ASP (didn't check here first) and found out it couldn't....

But I have got a solution now.... www.HostMerit.com is now going to offer Windows Hosting Solutions, and they are going to host my forum on there! :)
