Hi,
Does anyone own an Apple iPod? I was thinking of getting one. I am looking at the 40GB, the minis are cool, but too small in capacity. |

I've got a close friend that has one and they are great! He has the 20 gb version, good for 3000 to 4000 songs depending on length. One thing that turns me down when I look at the ipod is that it cannot play Windows Media Files. That is a huge turn off because then that means you can't use napster, or many other music services on the internet. Other than that, I absolutly love everything else about it. It has a great interface, the sound is great, and it is very small and portable. Don't get the mini, for $50 more you can get a 15 gb version, and they aren't that much bigger. Also the mini's are still having problems with a solid connector inside which is breaking off over time, which means you have to turn it in to warranty to fix. |

I have a 6 GB Creative Nomad now. I have to reformat it several times, often with the help of Creative. The Jukebox interface on the PC is OK, but it often fails to either rip the CD or transfer it. Getting 6GB onto the Nomad can take weeks. Even though I don't own the Apple iPod yet, I downloaded iTunes and will start ripping the CD's now. Apples site says it will take about an hour to transfer a total of 40 GB to the iPod over a Firewire. I don't have 40GB of CD's, but the extra space means I just need to buy more!
My 40th birthday is next month. I might get one as a present or get it for myself. I figure the 40 GB is fitting for the 40th bd. |

I like iTunes. It's simple and I don't need a whole lot of features or chrome.
They've only got the old iPods in Japan right now, but after hearing about some of the troubles with the minis, I'm not all that disappointed. |

seahorse, it's only a problem with the mini's, the really small ones (4 gb). The new regular iPods which are half the size of the old ones work just dandy. I'm thinking of getting one myself. |

creative also do 30,40 and 60Gb players. The 60Gb player is £50 cheaper than the 40Gb Ipod |

I've got an iPod, must confess though it's mainly used as a mobile storage device for digital photos rather than playing music. Have had no real problems with it, works well for what I want .. battery life could be better I suppose but it's not too bad. |
