I know that I can run a tracert on a website to confirm a URL and its server. Is there a way to verify an email address?

I have a situation where a guy was copying my company's name. After a legal settlement, he agreed to change his company name and discontinue use of his prior domain name. Part of the deal was discontiuing use of his old email address.

I'd like to know if there is a way to test whether he is using his old email address other than just sending a test and getting it bounced back? Appreciate any info if anyone has any.

Try www.dnsstuff.com as they have an area that can check email addresses to a certian extent. Have a look and see if it is what you are after. There is no way of getting the user name, but will verify if there is that email address there.

"finger" used to be the command to use, but a lot of servers block requests like that these days.
