I'll second the vote for Candy Press - EASY to install, EASY to customise.
I've done a simple site at http://www.bayparkphotos.com.au/ but the client was pleased because they have complete control over their entire site and other things like Daily Specials, etc...
I've almost got a complete Japanese translation for Candypress working at the moment. They make it very easy by extracting all of the text strings into a separate language file.
If you can get your host to install the appropriate language packs, you can even have your foreign language site hosted using W2K English servers. If you've ever checked out what it costs to host in Japan, you'd know what a benefit this can be. Great stuff.
