I noticed the winner of feb's Excellence award has a copyright that reads (C) 2003 Krug-X and the Snitz link is just below it. I thought the copyright had to read (c) Snitz or something like that otherwise it was a violation? I understand the content can be copyrighted by the person owning the forum and running it, but don't you also require a visible copyright on the page that states Snitz on it, even if the link is there? Or are you just mainly concerned with credit that it is a Snitz forum?
Just curious. I haven't ventured out to see other Snitz forums much.
Its configurable in the Admin Settings of Snitz, so no it's not a copyright violation. What would be a violation is changing or removing any of the code in inc_footer.asp or inc_header.asp where it says
'## START - REMOVAL, MODIFICATION OR CIRCUMVENTING THIS CODE WILL VIOLATE THE SNITZ FORUMS 2000 LICENSE AGREEMENT
So in other words, the meta tags and the bottom link (powered by snitz, etc.).
This whole time i thought i was in semi-violation and i'm not LoL.
I'm no stranger to copyright laws, i've actually got a book and some artwork copyrighted in the patent and trademark office, so i knew i never really was violating anything because i kept the meta tags in there and left a credit at the bottom of my forum, plus kept the copyright header statements that begin each asp page. I can't remember what it was that made me think you guys would have probs with it. I thought i had taken something out that i wasn't suppposed to but when i double checked just now i hadn't. Was prob just me over analyzing stuff... i do that sometimes LoL.
Thanks Gremlin. They're not feeding you after midnight are they? Hehe.
