As some of you may know, I'm currently in the middle of developing an image gallery application using asp as the base. As it stands now, it's about 85% completed, at least for the first realease, or what I will call a realease of it. I was wondering what direction I should take this. I think I'd really like to realease is as open source, but I'd like to make a version that integrates right into snitz, and a standalone version. With the standalone version, I'd need to address a few problems that i'd have with it, but all in all it wouldn't be a big deal. Anyways, If and when I release this, how do you go about releasing something as open source? I mean, is there some special way of doing it? What kind of licencing should I use? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!

You will have to use a GPL compatable licence for the version that integrates with Snitz. |

There are several kinds of open source licenses. The versions for OpenBSD, Apache, Apple Computer's Darwin license, the GPL, etc. all seem to confer different rights to the source code. It all depends on what you want to allow people to do with your source. |

GPL seems to be quite good... you could register the copyright independantly and still release it as opensource - that way you would be able to use your own license etc |

And if you do this, then you could have a version that you sell. I am currently trying out a product that they made me agree to only using it for 10 days and then it has to be removed.
