I get the following error regularly. I can access various pages of my forum with no problem, then suddenly this error is thrown up. If I refresh the page it is fine. This is beginning to drive me mad! Currently my forum is not available to my users, but at some stage I need to let them at it, and currently it is not up to scratch with this error appearing at random moments.
I have noticed some discussion about similar problems in the archives, but as no solutions were found, I'm reposting this problem.
The error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired
Hope someone can shed some light on this.

I would start by suggesting that you use the SQLOLEDB provider, instead of using the ODBC one. That alone will improve performance. If the problem persists after doing that, come back for further help. |

Ok - I'll give that a try ... once I figure out what the connection string should be when using SQLOLEDB, and get back to you.
Thanks |

You have it in the config.asp file. Have a look. |

Not a success - just get slightly different error!
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'
Timeout expired
I should mention that the database that Snitz uses is also used for a directory of staff I have, and I get the same errors with that aswell. I have several other databases on the same SQL Server, none of which have this problem. This is why I have begun to suspect that something dodgey is going on to do with Snitz. Could any settings have been altered when I installed?

Might be worth just checking you have latest MDAC/JET Drivers installed, you can find them on Microsofts download site. |

Do you mean the size that you set when you create it? If so that's 100mb. Is that big enough? If I need to get it increased, what size do you suggest?
