What's the best(cheapest, easiest, fastest) place to register some domains?

TIA

What makes GoDaddy better than something like http://1cheapdomains.com/ GoDaddy has a $7.95 special, but that's the regular 1Cheap price.

GoDaddy works.

Is 1cheapdomains.com an ICANN-approved registrar like GoDaddy, or is it a reseller? Is 1cheapdomains a financially stable company like GoDaddy is?

Many people will agree it's the pits if your registrar closes up or is otherwise unresponsive to your needs. I have around 30 domains with GoDaddy and am very satisfied with their service.

I just looked and I don't see 1cheapdomains on the list

http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html

OK, I take it back, Primus Telecommunications is an ICANN-approved registrar.

I might be real dumb here, but what are your "needs" after the registration has gone through ?

I usually purchase a domain,
I set the name servers to the hoster (this might be the problem)
I tell my hoster and they enter the domain in their name server
The whole thing works

I use to have lots of domains registered at www.000domains.com for years ($13.50 per year). I believe they are (or use to be) a reseller for tucows. I never had a moments trouble, but I have since moved all my domains to godaddy.com for the lower price, and to this day still no trouble.

What if your host goes down and you have to change where your domain points to? Then you find that you domain register has folded as well!

Then my understanding is that you can only change your Domain Name Servers (DNS) via the company you registered your domain with, with-out a whole heap of grief from the top level register who would tell you to find a new register. So it is convenience and speed in an emergency to keep your site online.

Cheers,

David Greening

I was going to try GoDaddy, but they don't do .com.au not that I get many of them, but I get a few orders.

Where did the Internet originate? Who controls the root servers? I'm not posotive...just a thought, that could be the reason.

FWIW, I registered 8 domains through Godaddy without any probs. :) Not only that but they were also pointing to the right server within hours. very happy customer.
Now for a hosting upgrade... is anyone offering 3 - 5 gigs of space and 20 - 30 gigs of bandwidth?

You could try http://www.123-reg.co.uk/

They will also do the DNS hosting, and web & email forwarding included in the price.

£2.59 for .co.uk and £6.99 for .com per year.
