Hi,
I'd like a little feed back from a set of fresh new eyes.
My forum is designed as a communications tool for repair companies that fix furniture and insurance claim adjusters that pay for it.
These folks are working class people.
Ages probably vary from mid-twenties into the 50's & 60's
Before advertising starts, I'd like your opinions.
Thank you so much,

For the target gruop, and speaking while drinkin my morning coffee, I'd go with a smaller logo that has far less colors. Second thing, considering the age group, I'd use larger icons (Snitz XP Icon Set), and larger default fonts; and third, I'd move the march of dimes button up, and allow the forum to stretch to the usual size, as I'd expect older gear from that age (thus smaller montors).

Everything, IMHO, and good morning

Thanks for your input. I was surprised, as I was drinkin my morning coffee when I read your post. I plan to implement your suggestions regarding a smaller logo and moving the march of dimes button to allow the forum to stretch out.

My feeling is the colorful logo is needed to balance out the rather soft looking forum colors. The logo color will have less impact when it is reduced.
I'm undecided about the font sizes. . .the demographics are diverse, many have been slow to catch on to computers and will have newer equipment.

The repair guys need sharp vision due to the nature of their work. . .I don't think that is an issue. Others are "secretarial types" in corporate offices with high speed connections. . .I don't know what the average age of their equipment is. Hopefully, no CGA monitors.
Your changes will be implemented in awhile. . .I was hoping for a little more input before making the changes.
Thank you again,

ah ha! I thought i recognised that multi-coloured logo. Your forum looks very good, all the colours work well together. I find the logo is a bit large though, have you tried reducing it to 50% size and seeing how that looks? I think the font size is just right. very easy to read. Your personal log appears on everypage, how about making that on a seperate page ??
The only major thing i'd say would be to upgrade your forum to 3.4.04. If you havent made too many modifications to the code it's simply a matter of overwriting your current files with the new ones. Good luck in your venture.

gee, how could you possibly recognize my very original logo?
Okay, the logo will be made smaller to conform to both your and Ranko's opinion regarding size.
The march of dimes button will move.

The "Personal Log" appears on every page because it is part of the "Site Integration" mod - which works that way.

I believe you're right, the Personal Log should only appear on the front page - not the subsequent pages. The correction might be to put the forum in "frames" top and bottom to achieve that.
It might lead to problems but I will try it.

Its still Snitz 3.4.03 - with four mods. Its a little complicated to install 3.4.04 with the mods - I already tried with problems. Maybe later. . .

Good suggestions guys. . .I needed that.
Now, back to the drawing board . . .

Okay, the changes are made.
Smaller logo. Full width forum, march of dimes gif link moved to bottom of page. "Personal Log" is still on the bottom, but moved down so that it doesn't intrude on every view.

How's it look now?
The first impression is the most important and I had gotten use to they way it looked before. . .so I'm relying on you guys.

Thanks again for your help. . .

I don't know how the personal log is added to the pages, but you could most likely use an IF statement to check if the current page is default.asp, if so, show the personal log, otherwise don't do anything.
No need for frames when you use ASP ;)

It looks okay. The fonts shouldn't be changed in size at all. Snitz uses standard font sizes, which can scale depending on the user's browser's text size setting (try going to View > Text Size in your browser and change the setting to see what I mean). People who need larger fonts usually have their browsers set to show fonts larger automagically.

As for the logo... it seems to be a bit bigger than I'd have made it, but then again, I wouldn't have gone for that font or the multi-colored idea either. It's really a matter of taste, so go with what you think is best, and if you can't decide, ask your members what they think.

The only real suggestion for improvement: get some custom icons. They don't have to be bigger or smaller than the default ones, just try to get some that fit in with the color scheme a bit better.
