I am developing a community web site with Frontpage 2002 and I would like to add a "bulletin" board to the site. I am not particularly interested in an interactive, discussion board--but rather, a message board where visitors can post messages about yard sales, scout meetings, church activities, etc. A bulletin board, really. I don't think I need Snitz for that. Can anyone offer suggestions about what might work, and that would be relatively easy to set up with FP 2002? Any input will be appreciated. Thank you. |

Snitz could do that, but I don't know of anything else that would work with FP. |

Yes, FP can build a simple forum automatically.
Hopefully FP has improved the built-in forum. Through FP2000 it was pretty much useless imho and a nightmare to maintain.
There are other forums listed on our competition page here, and at places like www.aspin.com where you will also be able to find classified and guestbook type software that may be more what you are looking for.

Doug, thanks for your input. I really don't want to maintain a typical forum for discussions. I prefer a true bulletin board system. A classified/guestbook program might be what I'm looking for; I'll take a look at those options. I am aware that FP has a forum feature, but I also understand that it is very difficult to use and maintain. I want something I can build into the website, perhaps as a script, that will not be a problem on the server side. Thanks again! |

whatever you want to do FP is not the way... well i hate it anyway... mind you i hate most microsoft products... if you want guestbooks try www.webmasterscripts.org - I'm not sure if you'll be able to use the scripts straight into the html editor on FP - i think you'll have to use notepad, araneae or some other text editor... |
