In my MSN Messenger (Window 98 version), I go to Tools>Option, mesg tab. it has a check box for mesg history but in the same place, I couldn't see that in MSN Messenger for Window XP.
Anyone knows about this? |

If I'm mistaken, it doesn't have message tab but preference tab, general tab and others coz I check few times. |

In Windows XP, are you using MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger? They are different... |

I think this is because it is unchecked. Try to select that save history checkbox. |

The whole section is greyed out, even the checkbox, so I can't select it. I don't really need it, just curious as to why it's greyed out |

Stupid reply maybe, but I use Trillian - saves history in all mediums, and you have the same interface for all as well. Has both free & pay versions. |

So your new Instant Messenger software will support only one protocol then ??
I use MSN, Yahoo and ICQ so I can chat to people that only use one protocol. Trillian also does IRC so I use that too (sometimes). I'm not saying Trillian is the only one that does this, but I use it and it does great message history. |

Reviving an old thread isn't what I like to do, but if you're using Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger and want some extra features, Messenger Plus! is probably what you want to download. It has an option to log all chats in plain text format (MSN Messenger uses XML files), automatically puts chat logs of the previous month in directories with the name of the month (MSN Messenger just keeps going on and tells you to delete "full" logs), and has a lot of nice extra features (like removing the ad at the bottom of the MSN Messenger window, adding alpha transparency). Just don't install the "sponsor" when you install Messenger Plus! |
