Sorry for the delayed reply/update - other priorities hit.

quote:
rurib: WHat are you using as the forum URL? localhost? After years of using localhost last month I began to be unable to login using localhost. Started using the computername instead and everything works!

worked with my sysadmin and nothing changed when using the computername vs. the local host.

RichardE: Just copied a forum from my PC which is running PWS on W98 to the network server which is running IIS on W2000 - and I have got login problems too!

Did you resolve this issue, RichardE? If so, could you share how so I could try it on my end.

I still don't understand why my live one works but the dummy one doesn't. They're on the SAME server with the same exact structure. Just in different directories/folders.

I read over the posts and, although it sounds so, I wanted to make sure that when you visit the forums the address to the forums is a physical address not one that hides the real one. Is it? I had this problem and I could not login. Just wanting to make sure.

KJAB, make sure the forum URL is correctly specified for the forum you're having problems with. Are your cookies set to forum or website?

(thanks Ryan)

Plus, rurib, I can't get in to the testing board to check these things in the admin section because the login won't work, and I can't find anywhere in the code to check to make sure it's looking for the test-intranet vs. the live intranet. What I have done is shut down the live board, change the urls in the admin section to reflect the testing ground, and the save that file to the testing ground, but that didn't work either. Hey, I'm grabbing at whatever might work here!

Yes. I had the sysadmin of our company help me decipher that stuff to make sure I knew what I was doing. Although, I still don't understand how the testing one doesn't work when it's at the ame physical address (mostly) as the live site.

You can try and edit directly on the database, FORUM_CONFIG_NEW table.
