Hello,

I have a really old version of the forums running on a machine that I'd sort of forgotten about - I think from 2001 or so...

Does anyone know how I can find out what version of Snitz I was running at the time - the "version" in the FORUM_CONFIG table was overwritten (stupidly) with another value.

It's most likely older than all the versions available for download.

Can anyone give me any clues/pointers on how I may be able to find out what version of the forums it was - I ask because I then need to find a way to get all the data etc moved into the new versions.

Cheers
Vince

Wont that depend on the value in the database though? And as vpwsys said:

Then there is no way except looking at the feature list for each version or just going for broke on an upgrade and seeing what happens (with suitable backups of course !)

Hello - OK here's the catch - I thought I'd do that - and I did, it sort of worked, but nothings worked since.

I wondered if there was somewhere where the database changes (fields etc) were listed, so I could work it out from that...

My first Snitz install was from April 2001. Current version at the time was 3.1 SR4. Do you have any idea on the date of your install?

You can also have a look at setup.asp. There is a part of setup.asp that deals with upgrades from previous versions. If you find the last version that setup.asp allows you to upgrade from, you can find the version of your forum. Even running setup.asp "in upgrade mode" (though not completing the upgrade) can allow you to find that.
