I got a request from quite a few forumers to have topic.asp display the posts from newest first (backwards). I don't see why they want it that way but I thought of having that as a option for them. Wonder if that has been done before.
I think what is needed is an option in the profile. Need a new value/field in the db. A modified topic.asp. And some correct script to direct to the correct topic.asp they want.

Many other forums display it this way, it means you don't have to jump to the end all the time, since all the new posts are at the begining
it is fairly simple, the main topic and the replies are displayed differently, so you only need to change the order by clause for the reply queery |

Yes. I agree to your point. Just that I felt won't that display make it hard for new users to read the posts. It's not really fair to the new users. I don't want to join a forum and start reading backwards in order to follow the discussion.
Thanks DavidRhodes.

The mod I have is just a zip file containing the modified topic.asp, you need to look for the commented changes, I don't think there is any step by step instructions. I'll upload it to snitzbitz for you. |
