1. Have the forum come in a folder so when you extract the files, they are not all over the place. I extracted the files to my desktop, and my desktop wass filled with files.
2. Offer a Admin Demo |

#3 of the Installation Instructions (readme.htm):
quote: Unzip the contents of the sf2k_34_04.zip archive (except for the snitz_forums_2000.mdb file) to a folder on your hard drive. (ex: c:\Snitz\)
Why would you extract the files to your desktop? |

The same thing would happen to you no matter which feature-rich application you did that with.
But as Richard asked, why did you unzip the files to your desktop? They should go to your server, not to your desktop. In fact, any application you download, whether from Snits, from Microsort, Adobe, whatever, should NOT be unzipped to your desktop.

2. Offer a Admin Demo
Admin Demos are nice, but are usually included only with products that are being sold. I.e., they are offered for those who want to try before they buy.
Snitz is completely free, so you can easily download it and try it out for as long as you want. |

A ZIP is a file that you download. When you extract it, you choose where to do so.
I certainly don't mean to be confrontational, but have you downloaded other ZIP files before? If so, you'd've noticed the same behavior.
Just follow the instructions, and you'll be good to go. Hundreds of thousands of people haven't had any problems. |

2. Where do you expect me to unzip files I download? |

I would say if you had to pay for the product then a demo of the admin section would be needed. If a product is free I usually dont play with it on there site but download and run it on my own in a test folder to see what i think |

If your host doesn't support ASP, you cannot run Snitz.

Something like this (what I do):
c:\_downloads\snitz\
That'll help you keep things organized. |

Great.
I hope you can get it all figured out; there's still the problem of your host not allowing ASP. Without ASP you won't be able to run Snitz (which is an ASP application). |

I can't really think of a good reason why not, I virtually always unzip things there. I'll check to see if paths were stored in the archive first, and if not just create a new folder on my desktop first, but I don't see any reason to quite so emphatically say you shouldn't do it after all its just another folder on your hardrive. |

Okay, perhaps I shouldn't have been so emphatic. But some ZIP files are quite large and could overwhelm the limited real estate on the desktop. Also, come time to move those files, it could be difficult to figure out which files were which. Hence my recommendation.
But I guess it's really a matter of preference. |

But thats why you extract them to a folder, and going back to the orginal request is why when creating the Snitz download archive with paths enabled (and a root folder) is probably not a bad idea at all really. |

LMAO, I unzipped Snitz 3.4.04 on my desktop yesterday, and it was awefull to delete selected items. I usually make a new folder or check the path in the ZIP file, but did not check it yesterday because I was so excited. It was a pain to delete it really.
To be honest, I download things on my desktop first, then send it to "My Downloads" folder. If I don't download it to desktop, I forget about it after I have downloaded, so it's a plus point for me to download stuff on my desktop.

Why not using the buttom Checkout - When doing it winzip create a temp folder and a separated windows where you can exame the contents of the zip. When closing the zip file winzip will ask you to delete automatic the extra window and the temp folder. |
