Hi,
I have just got my forum and i wanted to intigrate it into my website, i have no knowledge of ASP only HTML, i have made this sidebar page in HTML for a website i got using frames, and i want the menupage put into ASP and use my forum database to be able to login. and when people login they get some new links added to the page, like Extras for being a member, i tried the universal login but i just couldnt hack it, too much for me to get my head around, sos, but "put this bit of code somewhere around line number" isnt very helpful, anyways can someone do this for me?
the page with my forum is on http://www16.brinkster.com/chroniccoder/forum/default.asp and the page with my sidebar is on http://thegameengine.250free.com
thnx in advance reece |

i looked at it before, i didnt understand it, i am using a simple website with frames, and one of those frames is the forum, i just want people to be able to login on the sidebar aswell as the forums so a new list of links can be added, i want it to use the database from the forums. and i really dont want to mod my forums, as i say "put this bit of code somewhere around line number" is not very helpful, and thats about as detailed as the manuels go. I want to keep this simple, so i dont want to edit any forum files at all, I only want my sidebar to work with the login code.
Can someone help me out? |

I think you're going to have to modify some files somewhere, but ...

A few people find this a pain, but we can never tell what changes people have made. I've seen people attempt to implement other MODs where it says "precisely at line 387 add this code", so they just do it blindly, destroy their forum and then can't figure out what went wrong because they followed the instructions to the letter.
I just took a quick look at the URLs you've posted, and I'd say to dump the 250free (popup heaven) site and use Brinkster totally (you're paying for Brinkster, right ??). Try using tables instead of frames, install the MOD suggested, and you will have everything covered. |

you mean the site integration mod? i only liked 250free because they give you a good free domain name, and no, my brinkster account is totally free, i dont pay a penny for it. ill try and use the integration mod, also i have been looking in the inc_header.asp file, do you think i can just copy the code from that file and put it into my menu page, would that work for what i want do you think? |
