I am thinking of making the navigation menu on my site look a little better.
Right now, even though my menu appears on the left side vertically, I am just calling the forum navigation function.

I was wondering if anybody has advice about which direction to go, I am considering both javascript and flash.
How do you implement either when it comes to menu options that are only visible to members that are logged on. Or items that are only visible to admins like "All Subscriptions"?

The menu I used was easy to do, it's called coolmenus from www.dhtmlcentral.com . I just wrapped links using the mlev variable depending on what the user is allowed to view

yes, those high tech dropdown menu's are usually done using
DHTML (dynamic html) and one site you might check that I rely
on alot is: Dynamic Drive

hope that may help you with some ideas

They look pretty good in Mozilla Firebird, but do take a bit to load.

Always been a fan of Brothercake's Ultimate Dropdown menu which I use on my site with sForumNavigation and I'm quickly falling in love with Young Pup's Slide Out Menus which I might switch over to soon.

What does everyone think about just using a form with buttons? I want to do something that looks good but not too gaudy. The menus recommended so far are ok and are definite possibles.
