Knowing that there are many features that I cannot live without on my forum - and my forum is fairly simple - has it been decided which MODS will be added to the base code for 4.0? |

the only mods added will be ones relating to internationalisation, ie Timezones. The changes are huge enough as it is without trying to introduce yet more code. |

Okay. I guess I've got to watch which mods I've installed.
And 4.0 will be entirely CSS, right? |

No, 4 will be the international version, other than that it will be the same as the current version |

I think Snitz should add Active Users and Polls to their baseline code now. Don't you think it's basic, and everyone seems to want it?

I don't know about polls, they always seem to cause problems. In saying that I've never tried to install them though.
Active Users is a MOD that everyone uses but what's the harm in doing a few changes to add it manually ?
If any MODs are ever added to the base code IMHO they should come with good admin section allowing them to be turned off if needed. Infact make them turned off by default ! |

Herein lies the reason they are not added. I think Huw's posts answer all the questions :

IMHO its one of the beauties of Snitz. Pages aren't overloaded with code for features that you don't need or want.
You add what you want and everyone is happy ! |

Then why cast an opinion on the installation of the poll mod if you never tried installing it? If you're casting your opinion based on the number of posts about users needing help installing it, then you shouldn't. Look how many persons ask for help installing the snitz forum, but it's pretty basic to setup especially with the readme.

The poll mod does have a good admin section. The mod can be turned on or off. And it does come turned off by default.
The poll mod (and in my opinion, the active users mod) is quite ready to be added to the baseline if we ever come to the point of adding mods to the base code.
But that's not the point of this topic anyway. No mods are going to be added to v4. But things might change between now and when it is released. |

I have done so many mods and changes that a new version scares the heck out of me. On the other hand, I've grown addicted to building Snitz forums. The vicious cycle of addiction... |

You have a point there, I have had a few people say it's hard to use but that's not my experiences either.

Most people would probably use Active Users if it was installed as well. As for Polls, I suppose I can't talk.
