Is there a way, or can a mod be made, to dump someone who is currently logged?
A troll left messages to which others replied, then got skittish and edited all the text from all of them. Banning won't work because he was already logged in, and I don't want to take edit privileges away from everyone.
Any ideas?

If you lock the Users' account, they can't post/edit anymore, even though they may still show as logged on. |

Just a follow on to dave's reply.. is it possible to dump a users session and lock them out? I've found when testing the usergroups mod that users sometimes have to login and logout again for permissions changes on their account to take effect, which means if I lock out users by putting them in a certain group, they still have access until they login and logout again. Any suggestions for dumping the user and forcefully logging them out?
TY in advance |

You could delete them , or change their password then send them a new password in an email telling them to behave. |

I think deleting a user gets them kicked out of the active users, because their data no longer exists in the database. I will do a little experiment to check if it works or not...

I would prefer not to go that extreme to be honest, just force them to login again so their permissions in the usergroups are reset.. Is this easy to do, maybe with an if statement in the inc_header file checking for users flagged to be logged out and then if they come up as those users then they lose their session cookie... Could anyone point me in the right direction for code to look at ? |

Well, I think you'd have to add a field to the FORUM_MEMBERS table (say M_DUMP), then load it into an application variable (strDumpUser), then check in inc_header.asp if strDumpUser = 1 then delete the cookie. |

How about just using IPGate, and ban their IP at that instance, I think they will probably get kicked out when they click on the next page.
