Hiya
I have quite a few moderators who wish to ban certain members from their forum, but find it hard to do this!
The only way they can do it is if they allow all members except the one they want to ban. The trouble with this is when new members register, they have to allow them access.
Has anyone ever come up with a way of adding a feature to make a list of people they don't want to enter the specific forum?
Thanks, this would be most helpful!

Nikkol's User Group mod seems to be the way to do it. You could simply create a "forbidden members" list group and then add the user to the group. Probably won't be this simple, but it will be close. |

This isn't really what I was looking for.
I was just looking at a basic thing, like the allowed member list, but a banned member list instead!
Eg, you choose who you don't want in, rather than who you do want in...? |

they'll just create a new username and go in with that one rather than the banned username. |

I don't think the User Group is what I'm looking for though
How do other people cope with this? Eg, one forum wants to ban someone, the other forum wants to give them access! |

That would be a great mod. Make a forum that is hidden and had a banned list. They wouldn't just create another username to enter because they wouldn't know it existed. |

My problem lies in the fact that I have one person that is allways spamming and creating problems. I lock her out she changes member names, makes yahoo and hotmail accounts, and then just comes back in and creates problems.
I even get e-mails from her telling me to try to get her to stop.
I downloaded the serverhacker site mod, but the IP Gate doesnt seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to take care of this issue. |

Rather than locking her out, try putting her on probation (I have posted a small mod that does just that). Then, all her posts will require moderation before they become visible, and you can just delete them as necessaty rather than approving them.
Here's the topic where I posted the Mod:

Yep, these people can be a BIG problem. Hopefully with time they will get sick of it and move on. The probation MOD will work, but it will affect ALL new users. The IP banning MOD would work if she had a static IP. |

Not true. Only users who are manually placed on probation are affected. The NEW MEMBER MODERATION MOD (on which the Probation Mod was modeled) affects all new members. |

ooops, sorry
Actually ... will this do any good then ? by the time you've identified the user as being THAT person I would ban them rather than probation, and by then she probably has a new id anyway. |

Yep, the banned user list is the only way to go. |

The IPGate MOD includes the facility to ban a member by username and create a list of banned users |

But this only bans from the whole forum, and not individual ones |
