I am recieving this error after the initial registration screen:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e14'

Number of query values and destination fields are not the same.

/cgi-bin/sforum/register.asp, line 573

I have doubled checked the syntax for the altered register.asp page that was in the readme and it appears to be correct.

This is the line that the error is referring to:

Line 573 if strAuthType = "nt" then
Line 574 strSql = strSql & ", " & "'" &
Line 575 chkString(strDBNTUserName,"SQLString") & "'"
Line 576 end if
line 577 strSql = strSql & ", " & "'" & chkString
Line 578 (strEncodedPassword,"password") & "'"

Not being an ASP programmer, I don't know how to fix this. I am running the most current version of this forum.

Any advise on how to fix will be greatly appreciated.

I got this error fixed by redoing the install of the mod but can't get the avatars to show.

Can't get them to show where? In profile files or topic.asp? Are you getting any errors? Double check the changes you made to the files that are giving problems and, if you can't fix it, post back with more details and links to text versions of the files that are giving you trouble.
