Just to let everyone know, that as well as search engines, the function is being altered to recognise reasearch bots too as wel as the new browsers you mention.

Does anyone where I can find a comprehesive list of user agents?

Cheers,

Code updated. Adds support for additional spiders and alternative browsers.

The next update will be provided via a download link, as it'll be a big one.
You'll be pleased to know, that the code will also get some optimisation too!

By the way... for those of you who have left the email part of the function in (to help notify me of new user agents and hence improve this script) it would be MOST helpful if you could leave a browser open on the active users page with a refresh rate of 1 or 2 minutes. Just minimise the window and keep it open.

Thanx.

Eek...

I woke up to 14000 emails this morning notifying me of the same user agent.... the user agent string appeared to be totally blank, but obviously not because I catch that in the code.

It may be wise to turn off the email part of this until further notice.

14000? That is a bunch to delete.

How about if we post the user agents which are missing instead?

This is great addon, Rob. Good job.

You might want to incorporate some of the code from the Spider Users Mod that was posted here before. It has another file 'browsers.asp' + it shows if you are using Hotbar or .Net etc.

weeweeslap, did you add the new functions or did you replace the two functions?

Hmm, then it does seem odd. Have you made any other changes to active_users.asp?

I used this list when implementing this feature on CoreBoard a while back. Its . . . well . . . quite complete.

weeweeslap, could you post a link to a text-version of your modified active_users.asp?

Yes weeweeslap...

I could take a look at that text file also!!

It's very weird for it not to be working for you.
