I've this afternoon installed Avatar Mod 3.4 which Hamblin has adapted from Richard Kinser.
I've followed the instructions exactly.
e.g.
1. Uploaed the news files and run Admin Options> Mod Setup. Selected Avatar Mod 3.4 from the dropdown menu list, Than clicked update. I can the delete the dbs_avatar.asp file.
2. I've then methodically gone through (and re-checked all the code cnnages in each file. I've then uploaded those changed files to my forum.
When I go to Admin the Avatar options are there, and I can upload and install new avatars.
Then I click on profile, and that is where the problem is..... I get the following message:
The page cannot be displayed There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed
I've checked and re-checked the code and all seems ok from what the instructions say.
What is going wrong? I can copy and paste my pop_profile.asp & inc_profile.asp pages if you wish, or email to someone to look at.
Please help, as I'd really like Avatars on my forum.
Thanks
Andy

If you turn off friendly error messages in Explorer (Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error messages"), you should get the exact cause of the problem complete with line references, assuming your host doesn't generate custom pages for 500 errors. If you can't track the problem that way then post back with text versions of your profile files.

You're welcome, Andy. What was the problem?

The problem was I changed the folder name of where the files were being stored, and not all the files referenced to the new folder.
E.g old folder 'Forum_rsol' - new folder 'forum'
Once I did what you suggested, I was able to detect exactly where the problem was.
Thanks again. |
