Hi,

I have found a neat little chat program and I have added it to the Menu of my forum. However I need to modify it so that only logged on members can access it.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You could make the URL conditional, basically ..

if mlev > 0 then
Display menu option
End If

This will work if they don't know the link, but it doesn't stop them if they figure it out, does it?

No.
Here is what I did:
1. Downloaded and uploaded ConquerChat to my server. (made it under the forum directory)
2. Went to default.asp of chat and removed login info.
3. Created a link in the forum (viewable by forum members only) and changed it so that by clicking on the link it automatically logged you in using forum name.
s5design and n8pbm helped me do this. Works real great.

a good way of preventing this from happening is by adding a referrer check. this ensures that they got to the chat page from a prescribed link that you set.

I was thinking that when I set my chat up but then I thought that a member could easily say to another person, "hey! come on over to this chat room..."

Ryan, you can do what dayve suggested, that would stop them completely but I find very few guests know about the members only links. Those that DO slip through usually say "Hey, this is a great site" and signup quickly.

Would you mind posting the information on how to do that, particularly the code?
