My question is, if a field is unicode, e.g.
nvarchar(10)

how many double bytes characters can it hold in access, ms sql and mysql respectively?

can I use len() <= 10 to test if the data is less than 10 characters long for all the dbs?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about MySQL, just because I don't know it, but I would with a big degree od certainty state that you can store 10 unicode chars. The fact that the chars are unicode, AFAIK, is completely transparent for you. They are just chars and thus I would say that you can use that test, as you would with non Unicode chars.
