This is weird, i've had the Poll Mod installed for a while now, and everything's been great.
The other day I made board location changes where I got rid of some categories, and moved some areas around. I had an entire Category for Polls, but decided just to combine them into one thread and add it to the General section. (Kinda like taking this post and moving it to the Snitz 3.4.03 section) After I did that all of the previous Polls no longer have any info in them, but all new Polls work now. Is there a way to fix that? (If that's what happened)

Were you using an earlier version of the snitz forums will the poll mod, before using the 3.4 version?
Or did you start with the 3.4 version and added the poll mod?
If you upgraded from a previous version, and didn't run the upgrade poll script, that might explain what have happened.
Have you confirmed if your polls are still in the FORUM_POLLS table? |

I did have an earlier version about 7 months ago, and then upgraded to the 3.4.03 version, and then added the Poll Mod.
I didn't run the upgrade Poll script since i'm not sure what that actually does.....So now I did run it and here's Step 1:
Checking database for new poll table:
Poll Table Found!
Moving existing polls to new poll table:
Polls already moved!
Step 2:
Checking database for new poll votes table:
Poll Votes Table Found!
Moving existing votes to new poll votes table:
Members votes already moved!
Step 3:
Checking for old poll columns in TOPICS table:
Old Poll columns found!
Removing old poll columns from TOPICS table:
There was an error deleting the old poll columns!
Error Message:
There is no field named 'answer1' in table 'FORUM_TOPICS'.
(I'm not exactly sure what that means since i've never done this???)

Basically, the upgrade wouldn't work now, since you have already started using the new poll mod.
The instructions for the new poll mod, in the upgrading section, said the following:

UPGRADING:
!!!!!!!!!DO NOT CREATE A NEW POLL BEFORE YOU UPGRADE!!!!!!!!!
If you are planning to upgrade, DO NOT create a new poll before you upgrade. Or else the upgrade
will fail and you won't be able to move your old polls to the new poll tables.
You have been warned!!!
So basically, your old polls won't work with the new poll mod script. Since the new poll mod script uses the new POLL table, the forum wouldn't know that it should move the old poll answers, since it is looking in the POLL table for the polls.
So when you moved your old polls, the forum didn't move the poll data. |
