I've been messing around with XML. After going through some tutorials I had the idea of making an RSS feed for my blog. So, that's what I did. Using ASP, I pulled the most recent entries from my Access db and generated an XML document. Then, I added it to my Trillian Pro news feed plug-in and it worked fine.
Now what? I understand people could use access this using a news reader or I could let people post the recent headlines on their site if I write up some code that outputs it to a small vertical table. (I realize I'll probably have about zero people who will actually take advantage of this. Perhaps through a news reader, though.)
I guess part of my question is, do people actually use RSS news readers? Besides Trillian Pro, what other programs are out there that many people use that read RSS feeds? What's the best way to make this content available?
For those of you who have created RSS feeds or use them to get news and other content from sites, what suggestions do you have? Thanks in advance!
I am checking out Feedreader and there are a couple of options that I don't understand the the Feedreader support forum leaves a bit to be desired so I will ask here.
Anyone know what the:
local Userland-Server and the local AmphetaDesk-webserver are for in the program?
Looks like free for a trial version that expires in a month and it's still in beta. Then it looks like they'll charge for it like their other software. I'll keep checking back and see what happens with it.
