I currently have a notebook computer hooked up to a CRT of mine and I use it a lot throughout the day. As of lately it seems that my eyes start hurting, etc... My refresh rate is set on 60, but there is a checkbox that hides the rates my monitor can't handle. Now I know this CRT can handle well above 60, it is the notebook LCD I am worried about. If I turn the refresh rate up, to lets say 70 or 72 will this damage the notebook LCD? I have the screen shut on it now, do it isn't even on. I just want to make sure there isn't a chance of damaging it like this. Thanks!

I have my LCD TFT monitor (LG Flatron L1811S) set to 75Hz. The other options are 60 and 70. I guess it depends on the monitor and you should check with the manufacturor if it's possible to run at a higher refresh rate.

If you've got the right drivers installed then it shouldn't let you set a refresh higher than the screen can handle. Just make sure you've got the "hide modes this monitor can't display" option ticked and only choose a setting available in the drop down.
