RebelTech ; nice and simple ; however some advice:
  • the menu on the side uses Times New Roman or something, while your forum uses Arial (?)
You might want to consider some level of uniformity on that area

  • You might want to consider releasing the width of the website. On my 1280x960 resolution it looks like I am only using half of my screen...that's a pitty.

  • Since you use a frameset, your layout will be not what you meant it to be when people link to a specific topic...

  • A scrollbar is missing from the menu on the left...took me a while to find out there was more to read..
  • [/list]

I'd say : visit snitzbitz and try some mods, and keep on revamping!!
(You could check www.opzolder.net (my site) for inspiration )

I was going to comment on the width as well.

Also, I shudder when I see comments like "The forums have been upgraded, losing all previous messages and user accounts. " Can you fill me in on why you couldn't upgrade the db ? or was it other factors that lead you to the decision. I have seen other Snitz sites loose 80% of their membership by suddenly wiping user accounts and forum history and people don't bother creating new accounts.

    Thanks marcelgoertz.
I am saving your post and I will be using your advice. I want to grow a thriving, fun site. I have to admit that I am drawn to the less cluttered look but, there are quite a few mods I think would be good.. Thanks again!

Thanks for checking us out Laser. I hated losing everything, it made me sick. But upon upgrading to version I found errors in the databas and I did not know how to fix them see topics:
    http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=47975 and
    http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=47973
They may have been fixable but it was over my head and I was fearfull losing even more later if I ignored the errors.

Yes, but in both those topics you reference there was no real investigation done I understand the desire to upgrade, but I tested the new version for weeks before commiting to the upgrade. Not because I didn't trust it (I did) but because I wanted to know for sure that an upgrade could occur with all my mod's and posts in place. Each to his own anyway just showing you the view from the other side of the fence.

I asked around here and I searched the forums. I did not find an answer. I am not very advanced at .asp programming. Not to mention, our previous forums never really took off. It was mainly just 4 or 5 active users.
