Having used the snitz forums a couple of years now, I have 2 suggestions that would REALLY make the forum into a better community, (other than speed, always speed)...
1) Member specific replies: 2) Replies to a specific reply (which points to that particular member's reply)
1) Then search ability would pertain to a specific MEMBER NAME, posts by and Replies to that member name.
2) A reply say 10 down, would have a small link to, for example [Ref #3] which links to the 3rd reply in that topic, by another member "John Doe".
Thank you (clear as I could be) < |

Doesn't "Reply with Quote" sort of achieve that already ? not quite linked, but it allows the poster to show which reply they were replying too.< |

Well, yea, but trouble with that to me is... it copies the whole post you're replying to over again. If it happens to have a picture in it, you're throwing all kinds of bandwidth and server hits in the mix you don't really need.
Using this reply for instance, if NOT done with reply with quote, and there were 20 between us, it would be almost impossible to know what I was talking about!, plus you couldn't come on and search for my answer to you tomorrow, say, without remembering this exact post.
What if you had 20 replies all over the forum?
That's what I mean... < |

The problem with a reply with a link to the reply you're replying to is that if the original reply is removed, your reply won't make any sense anymore. Reply with Quote eliminates that since you can easily show which reply (or part of a reply) you're replying to.
Losts of replies in this reply < |

It's not easy to reply about replies...
Well, you're right in that sense, but I also think I'm right about the copying of the whole ...reply. Now if you could highlight Part of a post or reply and the reply with quotes only took that part, it would be pretty nice.
If a certain reply was deleted, it would simply leave a note at reply x saying it was deleted, and that would be too bad...
I also mentioned the reply TO a menber and from a particular member for search capabilities (fast)
Lol I'm getting tired of typing reply and replies! < |
