I was wondering how I could do this the best way. The idea I have is to use a redirection page that informs the visitor that they're going to a link outside of my site so I'm not responsible for the content. At the same time I could then see in my logs (StatCountEx, I don't have access to the server logs, and the statistics app ReadyHosting privides is way old) which links are used, and which aren't.

I guess the easiest way would be to do something like http://www.domain.com/link.asp?url=http://www.domain2.com/whateverpage.htm with a meta refresh tag to the URL in the querystring, but what would you say is the best way to do this?

Yes, I would say that would be the easiest way to track external links. That's they way I've usually done it it the past and have never found any problems.
