What the heck was Microsoft thinking by not providing a simple feature like this? Looking for the "easiest" way to sort multiple websites in the IIS MMC.

Click on the IIS Server and then navigate them via the right hand panel just like you would a directory listing etc, should be able to sort by any field that way.

I should make myself a little more clear. I want to sort the tree (left window).

You can't afaik hence my suggestion, some serious metbase hacking and maybe you could, but thats probably not a good idea anyway.

I was looking at the metabase hacking options which didn't look too bad at all, but I was looking for something more simplistic which I was kind of sure did not exist. Managing a lot of websites becomes a bear is all. Seems like such an idiotic thing to prevent an administrator from doing so easily.

I agree totally, finding one site on a large list is a real pain.

Under Server 2003 using the Administration Web Interface you can just click on the column to sort the sites by name, port, IP Addr etc.
