How can I get a picture to come up instead of the stars for the ranks.

I wanted to use smiles instead of the stars for high posters.

The easiest way to do this would be to edit inc_iconfiles.asp and change the URIs and dimensions of the strIconStarXXX constants to those of the images you want to use.

Another way would be to simply rename all your images (if they are about the same size as the stars) the exact same names that the stars have. eg name one picture icon_star_green.gif. Upload that to your forum file. That will change the green stars to the image you like.

I know that is what you said, the problem is the multiple image that is associated with the stars. How do you make it to show just ONE image

if the problem is that there are more than one images, just raise the amount of posts a member must make before (s)he gets the second star/image to an absurd number. That way you won't have to make any changes to the codes

The code for displaying the stars is in topic.asp.

the code for displaying the stars is in topic.asp, as Nikkol said, but the code that "calculates" how many stars are displayed is in inc_func_members.asp if I'm not mistaken.

I will try that

What I am wanting to do is that when a member gets to 1000 post they then get a smile rather than stars. So multiple stars per posting up to 1000 then change to a gif.

Have a look in the Mod forum for additional ranks mods, you could customise it to acheive what you want. If you can't find this mod, post back and I'll give you some code.

I use a little routine that I wrote which calculates and returns the member level but does not create the corresponding icons like getStar_Level does. Then, with that information you can do whatever you like.

I would start with the User Level Moderation mod, even if you don't use it, because it includes code to keep the current number of member posts accessible in memory all the time, so you don't have to go retrieve it whenever you want to do a calculation.
