I was lucky enough to get a copy of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, so I installed it on my makeshift server (PII 166mhz, 128MB RAM). It runs great, I've got IIS configured to run a website on port 81, and I can access the site from inside the LAN (http://192.168.2.6:81), but I get Cannot find server if I try to access it externally (http://68.9.123.xxx:81). My ISP is Cox Communications, and I don't think they block port 81 as my server has always been port 81. The server is set as the DMZ host, and I've tried port forwarding, neither has helped.
Any ideas? Thanks :) |

Also I'm trying to setup FTP users, but I can't figure it out, They need to be isolated folders... |

I never opened my W2003 betas myself :) Your problem sounds like some kind of firewall somewhere is blocking access to your server from outside. Maybe there is a firewall in W2003?

I've got the Internet connection firewall disabled, and I can access it via LAN so I KNOW it IS working...But I don't know of any other firewalls. |

run a port scanner on the IP adress from an external point on the network and see if it thinks 81 is open or not, if it is blocked then just work backwards through each hop to see where it's being blocked. |

It's open. It forwards to the server and if I type in the server address :81 it will work just fine. Just for the hell of it I gave Everyone Full control over the default site, so it doesn't seem like a permissions issue. |
