How can I extract just the client tools on the SQL Server CD? I want to send a few people the client tools only but do not want them to have the full SQL Server CD plus it will limit the file size.

Tell them to dowload the trial version from MS. The trial db expires, but the client tools do not.

CrystalTech used to have a download of the client tools only on their site, the URL's been posted here before but I can't seem to find it, perhaps someone currently hosting with them knows if they still have it available.

I believe they took it down some months ago. Among other things, licensing probably influenced removal, as well as the bandwidth of that 100mb download.

Even though the trial version doesn't expire the client tools, I noticed on the MS site not long ago that you must have a valid SQL Server CAL to use the client tools.

I thought that MS took down the trial version of SQL? I posted a link to the crystal tech a LONG TIME ago and have formatted my hard drive a bunch since then so I no longer have it but as Doug says they have taken it down.
