I'm considering just buying Windows2000...I'm about to start kicking my computer (Running on XP Pro).
Problems I've had:
1st time install was messed up. Had to reinstall.
MSN Messenger6 crashes on Startup (Come up with error report, but still runs)
Logitech Mouse/Keyboard drivers are installed, but I lose some features after Windows starts...
Can't get IIS server running properly.
Has problems connecting to my router at times.
Windows Media player crashes after several clips.
etc. etc. etc...
My computer isn't great, but it should Handel XP with ease. 2 40GB HDDs (Both relatively empty), 64MB PCI Video card, 512MB SD RAM, 1.3ghz Athlon processor.
Why does XP do this? I really need help...Thanks if you have any suggestions :)
BTW - This is WinXP v2002 SP1 with all the current Windows updates. |

A couple of things to try before finally blaming XP
1) try changing your RAM, if you have 2 x256 remove one of them, and try it with either one (but not both). 2) Make sure you are using a good power supply and that your processor is not getting too hot. 3) Run chkdsk and defrag on your drives.

Tried - Just made the system slower.

I have a 350W PSU and the processor doesn't seem hot...
3) Run chkdsk and defrag on your drives.
Done - hasn't changed anything.

Well, IMHO if you are having problems with XP Pro then you'll probably still have problems with W2K Pro. XP Pro is very similar to W2K Pro. I suspect you have some other problems such as hardware or driver problems.

I was thinking that ... My 2nd CD-RW drive will no longer Read/Write CDs, I've tried to Re-install the driver, but that doesn't help...This PC is full of problems I guess... |
