Actually I never said it was a problem :)
I'm advertising on Adwords, but that automatically gets your banners put into the adsense network as well afaik. |

You know that's what puzzles me. I've been through the terms and I can't for the life of me figure out why I was turned down.
The site is up and running. It isn't about race/hate crimes, porn, violence, hacking/cracking, gambling, etc. I've gotten proper permission for the content from the relevant copyright holders.
The only thing that might be a problem is if they see it as a personal site. But does the fact that I'm the only person working on it make it a personal site? I don't think so.
I've actually asked them what specifically doesn't conform and get a generic response in reply telling me to look at their terms. These guys need a lesson in customer service. |

Maybe they consider the content to be too closely connected with sensitive issues (although I'm sure its not). Either that ot they are of the opinion it is a 'personal' site. Question is, how do you tell them its not - where is the boundary between personal site and non-personal? |

How much $$$ is everyone making? Sorry, I just kind of skimmed the topic so I don't know. I mean...I'm not a big fan of putting Ads, but it'd be nice to get my hosting paid for or something. -Gabe |

I believe its against the TOS for Adsense for anyone to give out too much information about their revenue etc :( |

Yeah sorry I can't give you more info than that, I will say that if you have a pretty busy forum that it looks like it should be worth your while placing the ads on it. |

Well, I've put some thought into it and I think of it this way. Google would take sites that have keywords that they can sell ads for. If your (my site in this case) has keywords that no one wants to buy ads for, well, it's only logical that they turn you down.
I think in my case, my keywords are words like "F-15", or "MiG-29". It's really up to the people buying the keyword ads to realize that flight sim game enthusiasts, RC modelers, scale modelers, air show enthusiasts, etc. are targets for these keywords.
I think that makes sense, as to if that's the logic Google used when the turned my site down...well who knows.

They definately got something screwy in their verification procedures seahorse turned down as well, queried why got the same response you did, then a day later got a "welcome to adsense" email so I didn't query it any further and just assumed someone re-reviewed it and I got lucky. |

I just signed up for the program (it almost immediately sent me the welcome email). I also sell sponsorship banners on the site, so we'll see how well Google does compared to traditional ads.

I have AdSense on my site, and although many sites seem to be having success with it, it's doing pretty horrible on mine. |

I signed up when I first read this topic and so far for removed, which is very small but this time of year we do not have a lot of visitors. Even if it kept up at that rate, we'd have our yearly hosting paid for. |
