After the Flash intro (which didn't work for me) the site wouldn't load so I gave up. Might try again later.

loaded ok for me, but I would personally get rid of the flash intro, or atleast give people the option of skipping it BEFORE it loads

On a slow connection (as it appears to be) I would drop the 400x400 sigs!
I have a 300x80 max-size rule on my forum, running on a DSL.

It is quite slow concidering the size of the forum, so you might want to ramp up your line-speed or hardware -or have a serious talk with your provider.

Kind regards

I am getting pretty decent speed from here, so I would not think it is a server issue, mor likely a routing issue between you and them.

Its being hosted by my windows 2003 server, with a dedicated 64k isdn line connected to it
using ms sql server 2000 as the database

HuwR - there is a skip link under the flash is there not?

Its new and is getting there, slowly and surely.
Thanks

Well, that is the cause of the slow pages, 64K is not big enough to host a website on really.

Yes, but I would prefer that the choice was given on a page without the flash, or like Frutzle, it will error whether you want to skip it or not.

Hello chaps and chappesses, I'm the other adminstrator on said forum.

1) Yes, 64K is an extremely poor connection speed for any kind of web server, especially a forum where people expect a swift response. Originally, we only set up the forum as an experiment, where 64K was of course adequate. The forum has taken off rather better than we thought, so we're aware that a better connection is required, and we're looking into it.

2) I'm not a fan of the front flash page either. It was donated by a member, so again was fine in the early days, but we're looking to replace that too. I agree with HuwR, I'd rather not see flash unless it's entirely necessary. Aside from personal preferences, it raised compatibility issues.

I guess Paul's real intention was to say how impressed we both are with the Snitz software. I've been using Snitz forums for a while now, both as a user and a moderator (BMW Car mag), but only when presented with the administrator suite and plug ins do you realise what a powerful and well supported tool it is.
