I want to turn registration off so anyone can post messages. In the Main Forum Configuration page, I have Prohibit New Members set to on and Require Registration to off, but when a user goes to enter a new topic, it asks for a username and password |

You can't do that with the base code, what you need is the Anonymous posting MOD - this is available from SnitzBitz to install. Visit the following URL: http://www.snitzbitz.com/mods/details.asp?Version=All&mid=93 |

I attempted to install this MOD and I was able to do so, and I added an aco**** under the admin options, but when I go to modify a forum to allow annony posts, there is no option to do so? |

Have you actually tried posting? This mod will still show the username and password boxes when posting, but they don't need to be filled in if Anonymous posting is turned on. |

I got it all to work just by overwriting my files with the contents of the zip file, but I have to say, the instructions are horrible and there are soooo many spelling mistakes and half the sentences aren't in english. If its being sent out to people, it should have proper, error-free documentation. |

Jeff,
I can see your point, but the mod was coded by someone who is not a native speaker, which can account for the spelling issues. When picking mods you have the choice of choosing the ones you want. People who develop mods do their best and they are providing their free time, freely, to the whole community. They should get some credit for that. If you feel a given mod is below the requirements you set yourself, just do not install it. One way or the other, I repeat, don't forget people are offering their work for free and that should be respected. |

Hey, Jeff ... DoraMoon's English can be a bit hard to figure, but she is absolutely great. I suspect she is away from her computer, because she is usually right there to assist.
I have most of her MODS installed on my forums and have had very little trouble implementing them. You need to catch on to her system, then it's fairly easy to follow. |
